Life on the North Shore

Morell is a quiet community of approximately 270 residents on the shores of St. Peters Bay, about 40 km east of Charlottetown. Named after Jean François Morel, who settled the area in 1720, the community has long been centred on farming, fishing, and aquaculture. Wild blueberries, lobster, and mussels are staples of the local economy.

Today, Morell serves as a local service centre for surrounding rural communities, with a population of over 1,400 in the broader fire district. The community offers the rare balance of genuine rural peace with convenient access to Charlottetown's amenities, just a 35-minute drive.

The Confederation Trail runs through the community, offering cycling and walking routes through some of the island's most scenic countryside.

The nearby Links at Crowbush Cove is consistently rated among the top golf courses in Atlantic Canada. Rodd Crowbush Golf & Beach Resort offers additional recreation and dining. For beach lovers, the North Shore's red sand beaches are among the most beautiful on the island.

Lobster season is a highlight of local life, and the surrounding waters produce some of PEI's finest mussels and oysters. The community's farming heritage lives on in the wild blueberry fields that dot the landscape.
